Noah's Park & Playgrounds supplies commercial playground and park equipment to schools, city parks, churches and daycares across the US, with more than 20 years in playground design, sales and installation. Its online store sells everything from swing seats and benches to complete play structures.
Some of those products can be bought online at a set price. Others, like shade structures and safety surfacing, need a quote first. This story covers how Noah's Park & Playgrounds moved its store off BigCommerce to Core dna's B2B eCommerce platform, put purchases and quote requests in one checkout, and connected the site to Salesforce.
The challenge
Playground equipment doesn't sell like most online products. A swing seat or a bench can ship at a set price. A shade structure, a large play structure or a load of safety surfacing usually needs a quote, because freight and other costs are worked out with the manufacturer for each order.
The buyers are mostly organizations: schools, parks departments, churches and daycares. Many are tax-exempt, so their orders can't simply be charged sales tax at checkout.
On BigCommerce, quoting ran through a separate quote app, and a newer marketing site held some of the company's content apart from the store. The sales team works in Salesforce, so orders, quotes and leads from the website needed to arrive there.
What Noah's Park & Playgrounds needed
- Purchases and quote requests in one cart and checkout, without a separate quote tool.
- Products that can be bought, products that can only be quoted, and options that change the price.
- Sales tax worked out from the delivery address, with a route for tax-exempt buyers.
- Orders, quotes and leads in Salesforce.
- One website in place of two, with the catalog, blog and project pages moved across.
- A product catalog the team can update in bulk.
How the checkout and Salesforce sync work

Each product says how it can be bought. Products are set up as purchasable or as quote only. Purchasable products show Add to Cart and Add to Quote, and quote-only products show Add to Quote. Options such as size or color can change a product's price.
The checkout adapts to the cart. Cart and quote items sit together. If every item can be bought, the customer checks out and pays by card, with the option to request a quote instead. If the cart holds a quote-only product, the checkout becomes a quote request. The options chosen for each product carry through either way.
Tax and exemptions. Sales tax is calculated from the delivery address through a tax service. When tax applies, the checkout offers a tax exemption option. A buyer who selects it goes to a quote request in place of payment, and the team prices the order from there.
Shipping set per product. Purchasable products carry their own shipping cost, either included in the price or added as a set charge. Freight for quote-only products is priced as part of the quote.
Orders, quotes and leads go to Salesforce. New orders and quote requests are sent to Salesforce. Every new account, account update, newsletter sign-up and form submission is sent as a lead, so the sales team sees everyone who has shown interest. The team works each quote in Salesforce and updates the order status on the website, which sends the customer their email.
The website owns the catalog. Product data was imported from BigCommerce, and the website is now the source of truth for products. The team exports the catalog, edits prices, descriptions, categories or delivery details in a spreadsheet, and imports it back.
A map of past projects. Installed playgrounds can be searched on a map or in a list, with product, budget and installation details for each project. The project finder uses the same structure as YMCA of Greater Toronto's location finder.

Moving two websites onto one
Noah's Park & Playgrounds had its store on BigCommerce and a newer marketing site alongside it. Core dna merged the two. Product data, blog posts and installed project pages were imported, pages from the newer site replaced their older versions, and the store's product, category, brand and project URLs were kept. The marketing site's domain now points to the merged site.
The theme was built from Core dna's standard components in the company's colors, so further brand sites can follow on the same base. Read how Noah's Park & Playgrounds moved off BigCommerce and merged two websites into one.
Questions to answer before adding quotes to your online store
- Which products can be bought outright, and which need a quote? Mark it on each product so the cart can tell.
- Can buyers ask for a quote on a product they could buy? Some organizations need a formal quote before they can place an order.
- What happens to tax-exempt buyers? Decide whether exemptions are handled at checkout or as part of a quote.
- Where is shipping priced? Set costs for products that ship at a fixed price, and leave freight for large items to the quote.
- Where does the sales team work? Send orders, quotes and leads to the CRM they already use, and decide which system updates order status.
- Which system owns product data? Pick one source of truth and give the team a bulk way to update it.
